Mick & Traci Madison

Sue!
Just had to tell how much we LOVE reading your quips on the blog!  Your writing style is soooo much fun! The pictures are absolutely fantastic, we can't wait to see it all! Here's a shot so how we've been spending the summer at our new house at the lake; stand up paddle boarding! The unpacking can wait!
Hugs,
Mick & Traci

Homer Burrous

We lost another dear friend and Palm Creek resident when Homer Burrous recently passed away.  Homer and Shirley have been long time residents at Site 1005.

I asked Shirley if I could have some information to post.  She suggested I use Homer's own words to describe his career.  Below I've copied a paragraph he wrote for his high school reunion:

"Let's see, lots of normal and almost normal things have been going on since graduating from North High (Bellevue, WA).  I was married in 1954 to Shirley, a pretty Kansas girl, who is still pretty.  I spent 35 years as an Aerospace Engineer (The Boeing Co).  My most memorable experience was being with the Apollo Space Program.  It was quite a rush when the US put a man on the moon.  My professional career culminated in Patent Law.  Starting in high school I continued to restore and customize various cars as a hobby.  This evolved into the restoration of vintage airplanes and teaching myself aerobatics.  Failing to kill myself at that, I retired in 1995 and decided to become a modern day Stradivarius making violins, mandolins and banjos.  So now I study and play old time Blue Grass and Chamber Music.  We travel some and spend our winters in Arizona."

Anyone associated with our woodshop will remember Homer and his musical creations.

Don Fillipi

We are sad to announce the passing of a long time friend, Don Fillipi.  Don and his wife, Flo, have been part of the Palm Creek community for the past 16 years.

Those who wish to do so can send cards to Flo at Site 274.

Dave Owens - Tree Tables

Back on April 7, I posted some photos of the wooden table tops that Dave Owens created in the woodshop.  Dave's wife, Joyce, just sent these photos this morning of the finished product.  They're awesome!

Help for Erica Gall

Alice Herinck called this morning with news about Erica Gall and her family.  Erica did housekeeping services for quite a few residents here in Palm Creek.  You can read about her husband's serious car accident and the family's need for assistance.

Keely   3/10/2004 - 8/8/2014
Melba and Bob Leger, long time Canadian winter visitors to Palm Creek, lost their beloved Keely on Friday.  Keely was known for her passion for treats, and her smile for any two and four legged visitor.  She celebrated almost every birthday of her life at the north dog park with her many doggie friends, each who jumped for joy for a pup-sized ice cream cone.  Melba's passion is making pottery and helping others, and Bob teaches iPad and iPhone classes.
