from Madeleine Cameron in Calgary

Hello Sue,

I saw the post you put from Jeanette Girard, they live North of Edmonton.  For those of us in Calgary, we got hit with a wicked snow storm. It caused a lot of damage to the trees throughout the city. It did look like Christmas postcard after the snow stopped. This happened on the 8 & 9th and today I still have lots of snow in my backyard. I will send you a few pictures of sunny Alberta!! The saying here is that there are times you can get all 4 seasons in one day..

Enjoy the beauty of winter thru my windows..  I love the first picture, what doesn't belong....

Priscilla Chaffin

I received this obituary from Priscilla's sister, Nancy:

Priscilla Chaffin, a long time resident of Palm Creek, died on August 30, 2014 after a long illness.  She was living in California with her daughter Brenda and her grandchildren.  She was survived by two older sisters, a younger brother, and an extended family.

For several years, she as president of the Palm Creek Singles Club.  Priscilla also helped at many Palm Creek parties and functions.  She appeared sometimes as a snowman and sometimes as an elf in the annual Christmas parades.  She worked with the Casa Grande Christmas charities for needy families.

During her time on earth she generously touched many people.  In the past, it was difficult to find anyone in Palm Creek that did not know Priscilla.  Her memory will ve on in all of our hearts forever.

from Terry Turner in Iowa

Sue,
We had what the weather people are calling a mini F2 tornado rip through our town in Northwest Iowa Labor Day weekend. The winds were clocked at 70 to 85 mph. We lost a couple of big trees and damages to other trees but no one was hurt and the house wasn't damaged. We lost power for 2 days and quickly realized how much we depend on electricity. Other people in the neighborhood didn't fare as well when trees fell on houses and cars. But fortunately no one was hurt.

Here are some photos for your blog.
